The True Pain at The Cross

Luke 23:33

And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.

Do you know how exactly people died at the cross back then? Do you know what kind of people that deserve this kind of ‘sadness’? Well, I know and that really touch my heart. So, I want to share this with you guys.

Check this, Luke 22:44

And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

This is when Jesus knew that he was about to be captured. His sweat turned into blood because His blood vessels in the head were all broken due to a high stress level.

First of all, before Jesus was tortured and crucified, He already know what’s about to happen to Him and He was so stressful. Then He was tortured and crucified at the cross. Here’s what it feels like at the cross:

When someone was being crucified, that person dies slowly and painfully. He would be suffocated due to the weight of gravity, just like when one was drowning, he must be staying on the surface to fill his lungs again. So, his feet and legs or knees were the most important part to stay alive because they would give him the strength to stay on the surface and breathe again.

Can you imagine being drowned slowly and painfully? Slowly, waiting for your death to come without being able to fill in your lungs with a bit of fresh air? Slowly, for hours to come, not being able to breathe properly, with nails sticking to your hands and feet? Without food, water, and with body full of wounds? Jesus gone through that for us!

Also, if a Sabbath day was about to come, a person that hadn’t died at the cross would be hit by a club or anything hard enough at the knees to break the most important part for the crucified. The knees and legs, so that he wouldn’t be able to ‘stay on the surface’ and breathe. He would be suffocated to death slowly and painfully. And the body of a man, who had not died when the Sabbath day approached (it was Friday at 6 pm back then) he would be left behind at the cross, and his body would be the food of crows. This is truly horrible. That’s why Jesus had died before the Sabbath day came, and His knees weren’t destroyed. So that, Jesus’ body won’t get left behind.

You see, this is why the crucifixion is only for the worst people in society; for the worst criminals ever. And Jesus gone through all those hardships for us. For you guys. Think about this for a moment. Think, of how Jesus, of how God the Father loves you so very much. That He let Lord Jesus suffered all that. That Jesus Christ is willing to suffer and die for you. For the likes of me. For all our dirt and sins. This really touch my heart, to know of how Jesus really is in love with us. With you. So just think about His sacrifice for you, think about all his love and warmth and smiles and touches and lessons that he give, and be refreshed.
