Love, Grace, Truth – Inner Drive

innerdrive_logoLove is universal language. Without love, there is no point in life.

Grace is God’s initiative to form the circle of our salvation. Without grace, there won’t be a life.

Truth is the One that will set us free. Without the Truth, there won’t be a freedom in life.

As Christians, we need to ask ourselves this question: have we truly been freed yet? I think that this one simple question is very important for us all.

In my experience, I’ve seen a lot of Christians who are subconsciously struggling to break free from their bondage of sin and bad behavior. Notice the word ‘subconsciously’, which means that the chains that are binding us are sometimes invisible to the naked eyes. The chains will continue to bind us without us noticing and strangling us from within, like a cancer would do to our body.

This kind of problem has occurred since thousands of years ago.

Isaiah 1:1 = in this verse it is said that Isaiah served the Lord as a prophet during the reign of King Uzziah. Now, Uzziah was a good king, and he reigned in the Kingdom of Judah for around 52 years, which was one of the longest in the history. During his reign, Judah (South Israel Kingdom) grew to be such a wealthy nation, with one of the strongest military force in the entire vast land. Other nations feared and respected Uzziah and his strong kingdom.

The people of Judah were also rich. Almost no poor people could be found during Uzziah’s reign. And more importantly, the people were even more diligent in their prayers. They went to the temple everyday and bring fine cattle and lambs as sacrifices to the Lord. And since they were all richer than before, their sacrifices have been doubled than the previous amount. People were so happy and wealthy. All of them felt good because of the wealth as well as their sacrifices in the temple of the Lord. They thought that the Lord must have been so very happy with what they did, and thus, the Lord blessed them all as a nation. But, during this very moment, the Lord Almighty sent Isaiah the Prophet to rebuke the nation.

All of us need to know that our God does not see the natural world (appearance from the outside). He sees straight to our spiritual world. How are our hearts and minds react, our integrity when no one else sees, and et cetera. And as for the Israelites, it grew to a point where the Lord said through Isaiah that He grew tired of all the fat lambs as the offering. God demanded that obedience is more important than sacrifices. And obedience here refers to our hearts and minds. Whenever we want to give sacrifices and pray to God, He demand a pure and sincere hearts! There are many people who give sacrifices to church or other people with a heavy heart, complaining all the way when no one else sees. But this is not what the Lord wants!

What should drive us from within then? God sees the inside of our hearts and not the outside appearance. One thing I realize here is that we must stop living a lack-driven life, and start a fullness-driven life. We need to realize that whatever things that we have right now is not because of what we did, but because God has more grace and mercy than we could ever imagine. And no matter how small our treasure is, we must receive it and believe that the small amount of treasure is the one thing that the Lord has entrusted to us, and we must make it count with a grateful heart. It’s easier to be grateful when our treasure is a lot, I know. But, it’s not always like that. Lots of rich people are also having such a hard time to feel grateful. When they don’t have that much of treasure, they could still learn to be grateful. But when God entrusted a lot more treasure to them, greed took control of them, even without them noticing.

These kind of things may have happened in our lives without us even noticing! So, how do we deal with it? Love, Grace, and Truth is the very essence of God’s Word, and these things will be the filter of our lives if we understand them correctly.

1). Start to acknowledge your fear and problems. Don’t run away from it, because you never could. It lives within you. And you need to counter it with strong faith in Christ. Say it out loud to yourselves and God. When you embrace your weakness, you’re ready to embrace the grace of God. And from that point on, you won’t ever take God’s grace for granted. Grace is not a free ticket to do sin, but it is God’s initiative to form a circle of salvation for us. As long as we are within grace, we are saved, not because of our work, but because of God’s initiative. He made the impossible to be possible. And how do we see our fear and problems? It is by reading the Word of God in the bible. God’s Word in the bible will be able to make you see a lot better. The bible said that God’s Word is like a lamp for our feet. The Word lights our ways in this world. And if we don’t read our bible, we would easily be lost in our journey.

2). The Holy Spirit lives within you. The moment you receive Jesus Christ as your personal savior, the Holy Spirit lives within you. He is the One that God sent to help us get through our rough days on this earth. And we can consult the Spirit within us. Sometimes, we might feel or sense something. Sometimes, we might hear our hearts talk to us. We thought that they were just thoughts. It maybe true, but in most cases, those are the voices of the Holy Spirit within you. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, use your body wisely. So, in order for us to avoid the same mistake that the Israelites as well as Christians made thousands of years ago until now, we need to always consult the Holy Spirit within us by communicating with Him in our prayers and daily lives.

3). The third way to deal with such “invisible” problem in our christian lives is to have a good, empowering community. Good community would be able to remind you when you started to set off course. Good community will not judge one another, but will talk and remind each other with love.

So, our inner drive must be derived from the fullness of Christ in our lives. Whatever things that God has entrusted to us, no matter how small the number is, be grateful and do the best that you can for God. And the way to detect and avoid the “invisible” problem is by implementing the three ways above and by understanding the real meaning of love, grace, truth, as I have mentioned above too.

Not Seeing is Believing

John 1:49-51

Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”

Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” He then added, “Very Truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

People usually say “seeing is believing”. This goes way back to the people of Israel. They were the people that needed prove before they could believe in something. Quite contrast with Abraham, but his offsprings turned out to be like Thomas and Nathanael. No wonder Jesus called Nathanael to be the “true Israelite”.

When Nathanael first came to Jesus, he was full of hope as well as reluctance; whether this Man is truly the Messiah or not. And after Nathanael got the prove he needed, he believed. Of course this is natural for most of the people on this earth. But the Lord will be happy if we transcend the laws and customs of men, and start believing without seeing.

This is called Faith. It is something that we cannot see it now, and yet, we can hold on to it and believe in it; hoping that one day, it will be realized. It contains our believe that even though something has not been done yet, and we cannot see the result yet, we believe that it will be so, putting all of our hope in Jesus Christ the Lord.

Faith is when everything falls apart in our world, when our mothers or fathers are taken away, when our businesses and accomplishments vanish into thin air, and when all seems lost like a diamond seeping into tar, and yet we keep on believing that there is still good left in this world that is in store for us, that the Lord will never abandon His children and that help will come at the right moment, that is Faith.

Faith is also when everything is safe and all seems to be good, but we do not forget about God and the greater things that run in this world and beyond.

Faith is when we, in all circumstances of our lives, keep on believing and hoping in Christ Jesus the Lord for each and every aspect of our lives even though we haven’t seen Him or the end result yet.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.                                       -Martin Luther King Jr.

Let us learn to start believing that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior, even though we haven’t seen Him in person. Start believing that our future is bright with Jesus Christ, in this life and the life after, even though we haven’t seen it yet. Start believing that everything that happen is for the better good of our lives, even if we are in a desperate condition right now. Start to believe without seeing, that, even when we do not feel it ourselves, we are precious in God’s sight; no matter what our pasts were like, no matter how evil we were back in the old days, no matter how struggling we are to forgive ourselves, Jesus will eventually reach out to us over and over again. And when He does that, open up your heart and let condemnation out of yourselves.

Remember what Jesus said, you will see even greater things to occur. When Jesus comes again, we will see even greater things. Let us also focus on the greater and eternal things. Amen.

Precious Handiwork of God

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

When we want to buy something handmade and branded, it will surely be very expensive and precious.

We are the handiwork of Christ, and we are branded by His Name. We are precious in His sight, for we are His precious handiwork. You are precious, more than you ever know it. And you are precious for the world, more than the world will ever know.

You are specifically made for God’s good work. Embrace that calling that comes from within your heart; your dreams, your good desire, and the urge from within to do the right thing and help other people.

Embrace the call of Grace from God, to keep on believing in God every day for the rest of our lives; even though we may not see Him now. When something is invisible, it does not mean that there is nothing. Air is invisible, but we cannot live without the oxygen in the air. The same principle is applied here.

We cannot see God right now, and that is the reason for most people to stop believing in God and consider it as a fairytale that our parents told before we went to bed. But, even though we cannot see God now, it does not mean that He does not exist. God is real. Heaven is real. Miracle is real. There are a thousand ways that human can die every day, but the fact that many people lived until 70 years old is a miracle. Remember, every day is a miracle. Every day is a gift, no matter how harsh your condition or situation is. Your life is a gift. And it will get better as time passes by.

When God created you, He has a purpose in His mind, and I believe that He has put that very purpose inside your heart. So think about it, pray to God, and accept the calling of God that you have in your heart. Remember, God has prepared in advance the things that He wants us to do in this life.

Be refreshed 🙂

The Greatest Parent We can ever have

Isaiah 49:15-16

15). Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!

16). See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are ever before Me.

—————————————————————————————————————————————-

Even though the whole world could not be bothered to look at you and just ignored every hard work that you ever done, there is One that never looks away from you.

Even though your boss or friends or partners underestimated you, with no respect or appreciation, do not be sad or feel that you are rejected.

Rely on Christ. Depend on Him. And He will give you the strength and joy that you need.

We probably think that we won’t prevail when the hardship comes or when the betrayal occurs. But when you are willing to open up your heart and mind, and let Christ have His way, you will find the joy and strength to surge out from within you, enough for you to stand and walk again to finish your day.

And even though your own mother or father or both have abandoned you since you were a child, there is One that will never forsaken you. His name is Jesus Christ. He is the Lord, and He is very real. He wants to reach out to you, and as long as you are willing to open up your heart and mind to believe in Christ, you will not regret it. Besides, you got nothing to lose.

Am I Choosen by Him? Hmm…

Galatians 4:9

But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?

Now I want to talk about what it means to be chosen by God. We can receive the blessings, the knowledge, and the salvation from our Lord Jesus Christ only because He chooses us, not because of what we’ve done.

From the verse above, we can conclude that God chooses us to be saved, and the only one that can save us is through faith to the Lord Jesus. And because of this, we should be grateful for the gift from God. We should be grateful that we are chosen to be believers of Jesus Christ. You might have done something so very ugly or probably a crime that was truly unforgivable. I don’t know what that was. I don’t know how dark your past was. But one thing for certain, when men cannot forgive any mistakes you’ve done in the past, God is truly forgiving and He has forgiven you back then at the cross when He died for you. And there were probably people whose lives are so much better or cleaner in their conducts than you are. But instead of them, you are the one God chooses to save through faith. That is why I said all of us should be grateful for God’s choosing! Does this mean that God is unfair? Of course not! Let’s check this out:

Romans 9:12-16

it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.”

As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”

What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not!

For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”

So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.

This message is truly powerful guys. One thing you have to know and realize everyday is that God is truly merciful and loving! For One so great, so big, so powerful, He is so very humble, kind, and loving. He is also a truly faithful God. And He becomes our Father, we become His children. We already have the best thing that can ever happened in our lives. Then why should we gone back to the earthly spirits or the gods which have no authorities at all? Why should we gone back to worship the spirit of the dead, which, in fact, is the devils from hell? (look at my previous post about tradition just before this one to understand about the spirit of the dead better). No one and nothing can save you from eternal damnation except for Jesus Christ our Lord! Check this out:

Acts 4:8-12

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:

If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,

let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.

This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

There can be no other person or deity that can save us except the Lord Jesus Christ Himself! He is the best, and why should we sell Him for any cheap believe that doesn’t even have any certainty at all? We can only found certainty in our Lord Jesus Christ. Why should we sell Him just for our job, or promotion, or even only for a partner in life? Believe that in Jesus Christ, we already have everything, including job, food, clothes, and even life partner. Believe in Him and wait for His time to bless us with all of our needs and wants. Don’t wait according to our timing, but wait according to His timing!

And so, I hope this post can bless you in any way. Stay strong and firm in our Lord Jesus Christ. The end is nearing and let’s prepare our hearts to be fetched by Him back to our real home. Be refreshed 🙂

Who to Depend?

http://www.hopenowbiblechurch.com/.a/6a00d83535401169e20120a7366613970b-pi

Luke 16:19-31

“There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.

But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate,

desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’

But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.

And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

“Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house,

for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’

Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’

And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ “

Here, Jesus told a story where a rich man went to hell whilst the beggar went to heaven. Sometimes when people read this, they tend to misunderstood something. People tend to think that being rich means that the gate of hell is close, and being poor means heaven is close. People tend to think this because of verse 25 of this chapter. However, I want to tell you that it doesn’t work like that.

The beggar has a name while the rich doesn’t. This means something you know. Lazarus means “Depend on God”. The one thing that saved Lazarus from entering hell when he died is not because he was poor and suffer on this earth. The one thing that saved Lazarus is because he always depend on God. He didn’t depend on the rich man or anyone else. He depended on God alone.

The rich man doesn’t have any name, which means that he wasn’t like Lazarus who always depend on God. From verse 27 and 28, we know that this rich man was a good and caring man. Even though he was suffering in hell, he still remembered his family and wished so that they wouldn’t enter the same place as he did. This tells us that being kind or good on this earth doesn’t gives us guarantee to be saved from eternal damnation. Only God alone can save us, and so we depend on God to be saved. Check this:

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

and,

Matthew 8:28,29

When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way.

And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

We are saved because we believe in the Son of God, and from the above verses we know that the Son of God is Jesus Christ. At first, the one who proclaim that Jesus is the Son of God weren’t men, but spirits of demon. In the world or realm of spirit, we will know each other even if we haven’t met before. The example is in here:

Matthew 17:4

Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

This happened when Jesus and the three disciples went up to the mountain. Peter had never met Moses and Elijah but he immediately knew that the two of them were Moses and Elijah.

The only begotten Son. This means that the best that God have. And the best that God have is Himself! Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the LORD Himself, who came down to this earth and take the form of a Man. We believe that Jesus Christ has redeemed us by His sacrifice at the cross. His Blood has bring perfection to our lives so that our relationship with Father in Heaven, with the LORD, is right and flawless again. I hope this can help you in anyway, especially for those of you who are new to Christianity and haven’t get to know about these things. Be refreshed 🙂

What Jesus brings when He comes to us?

Matthew 11:1-6

http://www.hopecorby.org/content/pages/uploaded_images/480.jpg

Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples

and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”

Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:

The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

Oh how great these verses are! Today I want to talk about what Lord Jesus wants for us in our everyday lives, and so that we may always count on Him. Because the only one who is reliable enough for us to depend on is Jesus Christ. Only Him. Check this out:

Jeremiah 17:5

Thus says the LORD: ” Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD.

Now back to the main verses from Matthew 11:1-6. Here John sent two of his disciples to ask Jesus whether He was the Messiah. However, Jesus didn’t answered them directly and said I am. He answered them by mentioning the miracles He has done. All illnesses and sicknesses that the people around Him suffered have all been healed by Him. This means that the presence or the coming of Jesus Christ in our lives will bring us a much better life than before. He is capable to heal our incurable disease. He is capable to lift all the burden and weight that we’ve been struggling with all these days. He is capable to give us the answer to every problem because He is everything we need. He is capable to give us the love that we yearn to feel all this time. Maybe you doesn’t feel any love at all from your family, from your mother or father, you feel that you’re unwanted in your family or neighborhood, and you suffered a disease that is most fatal out of any other disease, that is, an ache in your heart, which can keep on growing until you have all of the complications of sicknesses you maybe having today. But I have good news for you, that Jesus has come to this world, He has died, buried, and risen at the third day so that we can receive a cure from Him. Just one cure from Him for all our problems. The cure is His Love. He is Love, and He is the best! Blessed is he who is not offended because of Jesus because he will receive the eternal life that He has offered us!

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Again the word come is used here. I have mentioned in my older post that so much of God’s message to us is come. We just need to come to Him. Faith really is a simple thing. You just come and respond to God. And how can you come to God? I believe that the simplest way to come to God is through worship; worship Him not just in church when you have all the songs played with the full band and all, but with all your yearning heart and with your spirit praise and worship Him, and also through your conducts in everyday lives. Praise God with your studies, praise God with your work, praise God with your lives. Know that your lives have been redeemed by Jesus at the cross with His Blood, and so your lives are not yours anymore but they are His. And so, use your body to praise God because your body is the temple of God. And since our lives are His, we might as well trust Him with every aspects of our lives. Check this:

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

I hope this post has blessed you, and be refreshed 🙂
