Your deeds count? Uh oh…

Ephesians 2:8,9

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Eternal life that God has offered is a gift from God. We cannot get or buy that with our deeds or money. But, not everyone can have that gift. This happens because sin is in the way. Mankind have all sinned. With our own power, we cannot save ourselves; because God is perfect, and he requires perfection. That’s why, there must be a solution.

Most people have a wrong understanding about who God really is. Some thought that God is full of love, but no justice at all. But then, some also thought that God is a just God, but no love. The truth about God is that He is both love and just. But then, if God is full of love, surely he doesn’t want to punish the sinful people. However, God must also be just. This dilemma is solved when God shows his love and justness through the sacrifice of Himself in Jesus Christ.

Jesus is God who became Human. He was pierced, hung, and died at the cross for all our sins. Then he raised at the third day, and then, after He showed Himself to the disciples and others, went up to the heaven. He offers an everlasting life to us because He has defeated death, and He has ransomed all of us. And we can receive this gift by faith.

Faith means to know and depend on Jesus as our God and personal Savior to receive an eternal life. And to have faith really just means to respond to His call, to His teachings, to His love, to His grace. Hebrews 4:16 said, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need”.Ā  I also believe that the simplest way to come to God is by worshiping Him. Worship Him, not only with our voices and singing, but also with our lives.

Sure we need to do good stuff and all, but not to buy our own way to heaven. Remember, salvation is a gift from our God Jesus Christ. And so, you can all share this food with relatives or friends and be refreshed šŸ™‚

The I AM?

Exodus 3:14

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

This verse is really wonderful! The God I AM is really The Alpha and The Omega. God revealed himself here as The Great I AM. And, notice a few verses from The Book of John.

John 6:51

I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

John 8:23

And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.

John 8:58

Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

John 10:9

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

John 10:11

“IĀ  am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

John 11:25

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 15:1

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

Now, notice the words I am from all those verses. The Great I AM God really is Jesus Himself. He wants to tell us that the answer to our problems is Jesus. No matter how insurmountable the odds are, no matter what disease you have, no matter the circumstances are, Jesus is whatever you need Him to be! He is The Great I AM. I AM everything you need!

The key to your trust is not who you are or the attempt to improve yourself. But it’s who He really is; and who Jesus really is is everything you need Him to be. He is your redemption, He is your salvation, He is your answer to everything, He is your partner, He is your Life, He is your dad, He is your mother, He is your brother, He is your best friend, He is your Healer, He is your comforter, He is Immanuel – God who lives within us! So, whenever you are confused and all worked up with all your problems and odds, you can apply this I AM principle and be refreshed šŸ™‚

PS: Inspiration for this post is from Pastor Judah Smith’s sermon (Risky Business). He’s really a cool and an inspiring preacher of God šŸ™‚

I have faith, but how come I can’t walk on my water?

Matthew 14:22-33

In these verses, Jesus’ disciples were in the middle of the sea whilst Jesus was on the mountain behind to pray all by Himself. Giant waves tossed the boys’ boat and crazy wind blew so very strongly. All of them are very scared. But then, they became even more troubled when seeing a Man walking on water in the middle of the night. They thought that Jesus was a ghost. But then Jesus immediately said, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.

Then, Peter asked Jesus to command him to walk on water so that he can come to Jesus.Ā  And Jesus said, “Come“. But then after seeing all the turbulence and the raging waves, he cowered before them and began to losen his faith. And so, Peter started to sink and cried to Jesus for help. Then Jesus immediately stretched out His hand and caught Peter. Then He said, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” [Take a note of those Italic words or sentences].

Most of the times, people tend to be like Peter. At one part of their lives, they totally believe in God. But then at some other businesses in their lives, they’re all anxious and worried. And then, people will start thinking more toward the problems instead of the answers, and they’ll start to over reacting toward the problems. Don’t be too occupied with the low level of trust! Because the key to grow the trust to Him, is to see who Jesus really is.

Just like in our day to day lives. When we face our darkest hour in this life, or even when you reach to a certain point when you finally say, “Where is God?”, do understand that our God, is a Faithful God. When you can’t come to Him, He’ll come to you. Your God, your King, your Savior, your Best Friend Ever, your Coolest Dad, will always, and I mean always, come to you. Sometimes He let us be and ignore us for a reason; that is, to prepare us to receive His full blessings, and to be more like Him. He teaches the children He cares about!

So much of Jesus’ message to us is Come. Faith really is very simple, for simple people like all of us. Faith really means just come to Him. Respond to His call, respond to His Grace. Of course Peter had faith, and so all of us. But sometimes, when we can’t walk on our water, we just have too little trust, and too occupied with the problems. But I want to tell you guys something. Let us be preoccupied with Jesus! So, if it happens that you’re struggling to cross your water, just remember these verses and be refreshed šŸ™‚

Is it Dark Ahead?

Psalms 23:1,2

Jesus The Shepherd

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

I want to share these two beautiful verses with you guys. These have remarkably changed my way of thinking about my life. There was a time when I always worrying about every little thing of my life. What am I suppose to do? How am I going to face anyone? Why is my future so dark and empty? Stuff like that. I felt so empty back then and I didn’t know what to do with it. Family problems were so intense back then too. And so, since I didn’t know what else to do with everything, I decided to play a computer game in my laptop.

Sure I had a great time playing, but then, my mind was somewhere else. I couldn’t stop thinking and worrying about my own dark days ahead of me. Then suddenly, there was a single, short sentence appeared on the screen of my laptop. It was Psalms 23. I was so surprised back then. I opened my bible, and the content of God’s Word here really made me cried out with joy. He answered me and assured me that there is future filled with hope in Jesus! Jesus is the good Shepherd. Anyone who depend on Him won’t be disappointed. So, just take your time and refresh your soul with these verses šŸ™‚

Hitting a Wall?

Hit the Wall

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the LORD. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.

I really love this. And speaking of this verse, I remember that this also appeared on the Soul Surfer movie. One of the best movies I’ve ever watched! There’s a saying I really like from that movie too. It was something like this:

If you look at things too close, you may not understand or be able to see it clearly to know what’s really happening. So if you happens to hit a wall on your life, try to look at a different perspective, and refresh your soul with this verse šŸ™‚
