Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Christmas… is a really important and blissful moment for all of us because our Savior Jesus Christ was born on Christmas day. Almost all people have lost the true meaning of Christmas, and replace the core of Christmas (that is, Jesus Christ) with some other character like Santa Claus and with perishable presents. Now, I want to talk about the day when Jesus Christ is born and the true meaning of His arrival on this earth.
First of all, look at verse 7 above. He was laid in a manger! The King of kings, the Lord of lords, was laid in a manger! Now manger is for all the sheep to eat. It’s a lunch box for sheep. And yet, God’s message and intention is crystal clear here. Jesus was born to this world to be the Food for all of His sheep, for us. Psalm 23:1 stated that He is our Shepherd and we shall not want. He is the Bread of Life and He gave His own Flesh freely for us! They were at Bethlehem according to verse 4, and Bethlehem means the House of Bread. Out of Bethlehem, came out the finest Bread there ever was. Check this out:
I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.
Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.
He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
Jesus was destined to die at the cross in order to give us His Flesh and Blood – His Sacrifice. This is His Gift for us. He lived and walked on this earth only to be punished, suffered, and died so that we won’t have the same fate as that. You know, it should be us back then at the cross. It should be us that was whipped and tortured until we die. But Jesus Christ is so graceful and merciful. He, The Creator of all things and yet so very humble, was willing to take our place so that we can have our relationship again with the Father in Heaven. That’s why this verse says:
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
This can happen because our relationship with Father in Heaven is not polluted by sin anymore. We have received Jesus’ Sacrifice at the cross and believe that He has saved us from eternal damnation. And so, we have been forgiven and our status becomes sons and daughters. And since the verse above said that we can ask what we desire, I suggest that we ask Wisdom from God.
Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
Remember Solomon when he was still young? All he asked was wisdom and God see it as righteous. So, He gave Solomon wisdom like no other and He also add everything else that Solomon didn’t ask such as richness etc. It was because of this verse:
1 Corinthians 1:30
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and redemption —
Since Wisdom itself is Jesus Christ, and when we seek Wisdom, this verse below will be fulfilled:
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Why this is fulfilled? Because the one who owns the Kingdom of God is Jesus Christ. So in this Christmas, receive the greatest Present from Him and be refreshed 🙂
